In beeld: een selectie van de mooiste vogelfoto’s van het jaar

Een foto van een alpensneeuwhoen die boven de besneeuwde toppen van de Tysfjord bergen in Noorwegen vliegt, gemaakt door de Noorse fotograaf Erlend Haarberg is de winnaar van de Bird Photographer of the Year wedstrijd.

Zojuist zijn de winnaars van de Bird Photographer of the Year wedstrijd bekendgemaakt. Deze wedstrijd wil niet alleen de aandacht vestigen op de schoonheid van de vogelwereld, maar ook benadrukken hoe belangrijk het is de vogels en de natuur te beschermen en koesteren. Directeur Will Nichols: ‘Onze getalenteerde fotografen hebben weer hun licht laten schijnen over de ongelofelijke diverse vogelwereld waar we de planeet mee delen. Maar het herinnert ons er ook aan wat we dreigen te verliezen als we niet goed blijven zorgen voor de natuurlijke wereld en vechten voor haar bescherming tegen de vele bedreigingen die vandaag bestaan.’

20.000 foto’s concurreerden om een prijs in acht categorieën: Beste portret, Vogels in hun omgeving, Aandacht voor detail, Vogelgedrag, Vogels in Vlucht, Zwart-wit, Stadsvogels, Creatieve foto’s, een Conservation Award, een Portfolio Award en een Video Award.

Speciale prijzen zijn er ook voor jeugdige fotografen. De winnaar in die categorie is de 17-jarige Zwitser Levi Fitze met een foto van een bonte strandloper die probeert tegen een zandstorm in te wandelen.
