Alessandro Michele, hoofdontwerper van accessoires bij Gucci, nam het voortouw en tekende een nieuwe collectie voor het Italiaanse label. De ontwerpen die Giannini had gemaakt, werden onder de mat geveegd. Ook veranderde hij de klassieke catwalk naar een U-vorm en koos hij allemaal nieuwe modellen voor de show. Als soundtrack koos Michele voor de muziek uit ‘A Single Man’, de prent van Tom Ford. Laat Ford nu net een van de getipte opvolgers van Giannini zijn.
De collectie geeft de indruk jonger, nostalgischer en speelser te zijn dan we gewoon zijn van Gucci. De eerste codewoorden waar we aan dachten zijn Wes Anderson, de quirky regisseur, en de swinging sixties. Wij rouwen alvast niet meer om het vertrek van Frida Giannini. (LP)
